The lightest anti-virus
NOD32 v2.7 is the oldest and longest-standing anti-virus that continues to remain in production with an ongoing support from the official ESET forums.
It was proposed to be discontinued a few times over - but the subscribers protested so loudly that ESET had to relent and thev2 receives the very same signatures database updates as the v4.
The only difference between v2 and all later releases is that subsequent versions have more robust engines.
However, the ground reality is that by default ESET (any version) prefers to delete the infected file even when one opts to clean it (very rarely does the cleaning really happen.)
On piddly systems - it's disastrous to configure the v4 on full blast for 'Real-time scanning' with all of the following functionality together:
* Heuristics
* Advanced Heuristics
* Potentially unwanted applications and
* Potentially unsafe applications
With the v2, all of the above features can be enabled and be easily run simultaneously without hogging resources - this results in a terrific detection which more than makes up for the insignificant cleaning incapability on a lower-configuration-rig.
When v2 was current.. it was on top of the market.. with the smallest footprint or lowest CPU Resource usage... and protected systems quite well.
